Vrat Curd Fruit Bowl (Falahari)
A fasting-friendly fruit and curd bowl for Navratri, Ekadashi, and Janmashtami vrats. Fresh banana, apple, and pomegranate arils folded into thick set curd with a drizzle of honey and a pinch of green cardamom. Uses only ingredients permitted under falahari (fruit-based fasting) rules — no grains, no onion, no garlic, no regular salt, and no commercial masala. The probiotics from curd and natural sugars from fruits sustain energy through a fasting day.

Fruit
- apple — 100 g (cored cubed)
- Gulbarga Pomegranate — 75 g (arils separated)
- banana — 100 g (peeled sliced)

Method
- Take 200 g of fresh, thick set curd in a wide bowl. Whisk gently with a spoon for 20 seconds until the curd is smooth and lump-free. If the curd is too thick to fold, loosen it with a teaspoon of milk — do not add water on a strict vrat.
- Peel one small ripe-but-firm banana (about 100 g without skin) and slice into 6 mm rounds. Set aside.
- Wash one small apple (about 100 g). Quarter it, core out the seeds, and cube into 1 cm pieces. Keep the skin on for fiber.
- Cut a small pomegranate, deseed it, and measure out 75 g of arils (about half a cup). Discard the white membrane — it is bitter.
- Add the banana, apple, and pomegranate arils to the whisked curd. Fold gently with a spoon — three or four turns is enough — so the curd coats every piece without breaking the fruit.
- Drizzle a teaspoon (about 5 g) of honey over the top. Skip for very strict vrats (some traditions forbid even honey). Honey adds the natural sweetness that replaces processed sugar.
- Sprinkle a tiny pinch (about 1 g) of green cardamom powder over the bowl. Cardamom is the traditional vrat fragrance — replaces the cumin, black pepper and red chili used in regular-day raita.
- Serve fresh and cold within 15 minutes. Apple and banana brown and weep water if left longer. This bowl is eaten directly, not paired with anything else, and breaks a fast cleanly because it carries protein from curd plus natural sugars from fruit.
