
Tripuri Fermented Fish Rice

- Coriander Leaves (optional) (garnish) — 2 tbsp (chopped)

- Berma (Tripura Dried Fermented Fish) — 40 g (chopped)
- Bamboo Shoots — 100 g (sliced)
- green chillies — 10 g (slit)
- Potato — 120 g (peeled and cubed)
- rice — 250 g (soaked boiled)
- green beans — 80 g (trimmed and cut)
- onion — 60 g (finely chopped)
- coriander powder — 1 tsp (ground)
- Red Chilli Powder (Lal Mirch) — 1 tsp (ground)
- Turmeric Powder — 0.5 tsp (ground)
Tempering
- Cumin Seeds — 1 tsp (whole)
Method
- Dry-roast the berma (fermented fish) on a hot pan until fragrant, then break it into small pieces.
- Heat oil in a kadhai, add cumin seeds, then add turmeric, red chilli powder and coriander powder.
- Add the roasted berma and stir for a minute to release its flavour.
- Add the cooked rice and salt, and mix thoroughly so the berma flavour coats the rice.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
