Method

  1. Soak the Chana Dal in water for at least 8 hours, or overnight.
  2. Boil the soaked Chana Dal in fresh water with a little salt until just tender; drain well.
  3. Grate the Coconut fresh and keep it loose rather than packed down.
  4. Heat the Coconut Oil in a kadhai on medium until it thins and shimmers.
  5. Add the boiled Chana Dal and half the grated Coconut; toss for a few seconds until warmed through.
  6. Off the heat, fold in the remaining raw grated Coconut and adjust the salt.
  7. Scatter Coriander Leaves over and serve at room temperature.
