- Potato — 250 g (chopped)
- Gram Flour — 1 cup (ground)
- Tamarind — 100 g (whole)
- Chana Dal — 100 g (whole)

Tempering
Method
- Boil the potatoes till soft, then peel and mash them well, keeping some texture.
- Soak the chana dal for 2 hours, then pressure cook till soft and drain well.
- Cook the tamarind in a little water till soft, then mash and strain to get a thick tamarind pulp for serving.
- Mix the mashed potato, cooked chana dal and gram flour together with salt, and knead into a firm, bindable dough.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each into a round, slightly flattened tikki.
- Heat the oil on a tawa and shallow fry the tikkis on medium heat, pressing lightly, till both sides turn golden and crisp.
- Plate the hot tikkis, drizzle the tamarind pulp generously on top.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
