
Kochai Patta Sabzi
Colocasia leaves rolled with besan and steamed, then tempered. Korba monsoon delicacy.

Garnish
- Coriander Leaves (optional) (garnish) — 2 tbsp (chopped)
Main
- Colocasia Leaves — 250 g (chopped)
- coriander powder — 1 tsp (ground)
- salt (optional) (whole)
- Red Chilli Powder (Lal Mirch) — 1 tsp (ground)
- Gram Flour — 100 g (ground)
- Turmeric Powder — 0.5 tsp (ground)
Tempering
- oil — 2 tbsp (whole)
- Cumin Seeds — 1 tsp (whole)
Method
- Wash the colocasia (kochai) leaves well and pat them dry. Trim the thick stems.
- In a bowl, mix the gram flour with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt, adding a little water to make a thick, spreadable paste.
- Spread this gram flour paste evenly over each colocasia leaf, stack 3 to 4 leaves on top of each other, then roll them tightly into a log.
- Steam the rolled leaves in a steamer or idli cooker for 15 to 18 minutes until firm and cooked through.
- Let the rolls cool slightly, then slice them into thick round pieces.
- Heat oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds, letting them crackle.
- Add the sliced colocasia rolls to the pan and saute gently on medium flame until lightly crisp and golden on the edges.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve the kochai patta sabzi warm.
