
Fish Fry
Crispy fried freshwater fish marinated in local chilli-turmeric paste. Bellary Tungabhadra river fish fry served at highway dhabas.

- Coriander Leaves (optional) (garnish) — 2 tbsp (chopped)
Main
- Turmeric Powder — 1 tsp (ground)

- Red Chilli Powder (Lal Mirch) — 1 tsp
- fish — 250 g (chopped)
Tempering
- Mustard Seeds (Black) — 1 tsp (whole)
- Curry Leaves — 8 piece (ground)
- Urad Dal — 1 tsp (whole)
- Coconut Oil — 2 tbsp (whole)
Method
- Clean the fish pieces and pat dry. Rub with turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt; marinate for 20-30 minutes.
- Heat coconut oil in a kadhai. Add mustard seeds and urad dal, let them splutter and turn golden.
- Add curry leaves and saute briefly, then place the marinated fish pieces in the pan.
- Shallow-fry on medium flame, about 4-5 minutes per side, until crisp and cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with onion rings and lemon wedges.
