Garnish
- Coriander Leaves (optional) (garnish) — 2 tbsp (chopped)
Main
- Red Chilli Powder (Lal Mirch) — 1 tsp (ground)

- Ginger — 1 tsp (ground)
- Chickpeas — 250 g (whole)
- Turmeric Powder — 0.5 tsp (ground)
- onion — 100 g (chopped)
- Garlic — 1 tsp (ground)
- coriander powder — 1 tsp (ground)
- Tomato — 100 g (chopped)
Tempering
- oil — 2 tbsp (whole)
- Cumin Seeds — 1 tsp (whole)
Method
- Soak the chickpeas overnight, then pressure cook until soft; reserve the cooking liquid.
- Heat oil in a kadhai; add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onion and saute until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for a minute.
- Add chopped tomato and cook until it turns pulpy and the oil separates.
- Add turmeric, red chilli powder and coriander powder; mix well and cook briefly.
- Add the boiled chickpeas with a little of their cooking liquid; simmer for 10-15 minutes, mashing a few chickpeas to thicken the gravy.
- Adjust salt, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or steamed rice.
