- Turmeric Powder — 0.5 tsp (ground)
- coriander powder — 1 tsp (ground)
- Red Chilli Powder (Lal Mirch) — 1 tsp (ground)
- Tomato — 2 piece (chopped)
- Garlic — 1 tsp (ground)
- Ginger — 1 tsp (ground)
- chicken — 2000 g (chopped)
- salt (optional) (whole)
- onion — 2 piece (chopped)
Tempering
- Coconut Oil — 2 tbsp (whole)
- Curry Leaves — 8 piece (ground)
- Mustard Seeds (Black) — 1 tsp (whole)
- Urad Dal — 1 tsp (whole)
Method
- Clean and cut the country chicken into medium pieces. Wash well and set aside.
- Heat coconut oil in a heavy-bottomed pan. Splutter mustard seeds and urad dal, then add curry leaves.
- Add chopped onions and saute until golden brown.
- Add ginger and garlic and saute for a minute until the raw smell goes.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft and mushy.
- Add turmeric, red chilli powder and coriander powder. Saute until the oil separates.
- Add the chicken pieces and saute on high flame to coat well with the masala.
- Add salt and enough water to make a thin saaru. Cover and cook on medium flame until the chicken is tender.
- Adjust salt and consistency. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice, ragi mudde or roti.
