- Coriander Leaves (optional) (garnish) — 2 tbsp (chopped)
Main
- Red Chilli Powder (Lal Mirch) — 1 tsp (ground)
- Tomato — 2 piece (chopped)
- Garlic — 1 tsp (ground)
- salt (optional) (whole)
- kidney beans — 250 g (whole)
- Ginger — 1 tsp (ground)
- coriander powder — 1 tsp (ground)
- Turmeric Powder — 0.5 tsp (ground)
- onion — 2 piece (chopped)
Tempering
- oil — 2 tbsp (whole)
- Cumin Seeds — 1 tsp (whole)
Method
- Soak the kidney beans for 6-8 hours or overnight, then pressure cook until soft.
- Heat oil in a kadhai; add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onion and saute until deep golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and saute until the raw smell disappears.
- Add chopped tomato and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Add turmeric, red chilli powder and coriander powder; mix well.
- Add the boiled kidney beans with a little cooking liquid; simmer and mash a portion of the beans to get a thick gravy.
- Cook until the gravy thickens, adjust salt, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice.
