
Sura Puttu

Garnish
- Coriander Leaves (optional) (garnish) — 2 tbsp (chopped)
Main
- salt (optional) (whole)
- onion — 100 g (chopped)
- green chillies — 8 g (chopped)
- fish — 100 g (chopped)
- Coconut — 100 g (chopped)
- Turmeric Powder — 1 g (whole)
Tempering
- Urad Dal — 1 tsp (whole)
- Coconut Oil — 2 tbsp (whole)
- Curry Leaves — 8 piece (ground)
- Mustard Seeds (Black) — 1 tsp (whole)
Method
- Clean the shark (sura) pieces and steam them in an idli steamer for 10-12 minutes until fully cooked.
- Cool the steamed fish, then remove the skin and cartilage and flake/shred the flesh finely with your fingers.
- Heat coconut oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and urad dal, let them splutter and turn golden, then add curry leaves.
- Add chopped onion and green chilli, saute until the onion turns soft and translucent.
- Add turmeric powder and the shredded fish, mix well and stir-fry on medium flame for 5-6 minutes until it looks dry and lightly roasted.
- Add the grated coconut and coriander leaves, toss for a minute and serve hot with rice and rasam or curd rice.
