Method

  1. Heat the Coconut Oil in a clay pot or kadhai, splutter the Mustard Seeds, then add the Urad Dal and Curry Leaves and fry 30 seconds.
  2. Add the sliced onion and fry 6 minutes until golden, then the Ginger and Garlic for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the chopped Tomato with Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder and coriander powder and cook 5 minutes until pulpy.
  4. Soak the Tamarind in 300 ml warm water, squeeze out the pulp and strain it into the pan with salt.
  5. Add the Drumstick pieces and simmer 8 minutes until they turn tender and the raw tamarind smell goes.
  6. Grind the Coconut smooth with a little water, stir it in and simmer 4 minutes until the kulambu thickens.
  7. Slide in the fish and cook 6-7 minutes without stirring, only swirling the pan, until it flakes.
  8. Cook the rice separately, garnish the kulambu with Coriander Leaves and serve hot with the rice.
